San Antonio is the eighth-fastest growing city in America, increasing its population by over 1% from 2020 to 2021. Over the last decade, the population has jumped almost 20%! For anybody looking to move to the Alamo City, the question is, where should I live? Here’s a list of some of the most popular neighborhoods San Antonio has to offer.

Alamo Heights

For good reason, Alamo Heights is regularly noted as one of the best places to live in the country. The incorporated city within San Antonio is home to many affluent Texans looking for a suburban community vibe just outside of the city itself. Alamo Heights has great public schools, excellent jobs, and sits right next to Olmos Park. Because of its central location and excellent restaurants, Alamo Heights has been one of San Antonio’s most popular neighborhoods for a long time. While not the most affordable place to live in the San Antonio area, you definitely get what you pay for in Alamo Heights.

Kirby

For a more affordable and diverse neighborhood, Kirby is an excellent option. Though there are still many homeowners in the city, Kirby has far more renters than Alamo Heights. So, out-of-towners unsure if they want to put down permanent roots in San Antonio can sample the city here. Kirby is just a 20-minute drive from downtown, after all. It is home to the excellent Friendship Park, an excellent place for families to spend a day in the sun. For a bit of diversity in the San Antonio Metro Area, look no further than Kirby.

Alamo Ranch

Alamo Ranch is a great neighborhood for people looking for a bit more seclusion. While still only 20 minutes from the city proper, Alamo Ranch gives residents a hill country feel. The planned community has everything a growing family could ask for, from a well-maintained public pool to a large shopping center nearby. And, with affordable homes for buyers, it’s no wonder why this is one of the fastest-growing communities in San Antonio.
